Product Description
The ultimate acoustic experience? The natural one: where sound reaches your ears through the open air, from a source right in front of you. It’s not a difficult concept to wrap your head around. In the history of headphone design, however, it’s proven difficult to wrap it around your head. Until now. Meet the Drop + grell OAE1 Signature: a groundbreaking pair of headphones with game-changing driver geometry and an ultra-expansive soundstage.
The Drop + grell OAE1 Signature headphones are finally here, and we couldn’t be more excited!
It has been a long journey to get to this point. Together with Axel, we’ve shown the headphones at a number of shows, received feedback from trusted ears such as Jude Mansila of Head-fi.org, and tweaked the tuning along the way.
The OAE1 Signature are collectors items and limited to 1,000 units in total. All Signature headphones are individually measured before leaving the factory and the measurements are included inside the package. The Signature version also comes with two high quality cables, a carrying case, and as the name says—the headphones have Axel’s signature on them.
The headphones come with a 2-year warranty and our 30 day return policy applies to OAE1 Signature as well.
One goal with this launch was to minimize the wait time until the OAE1 Signature arrives. The headphones are in production and expected to arrive to our warehouse mid-June, and ship shortly thereafter to everyone. We look forward to getting these into your hands!
Edit to add: All orders, including international, will be shipping free! If you already purchased and paid for shipping, that cost will be refunded to you automatically.
Looking at one of the pictures of the headphone with Somone's hands next to the cups, it looks like an "ON-EAR" rather than an OVER-EAR design. What is the size of the opening of the ear space inside the cup pads?
condocondorIt’s big.
i forget the measurements, but I wrote them in the comments below my review. My ears fit entirely inside, in fact I have some wiggle room to find the audio sweet spot.
So, what about spare ear cushions? Will Drop offer these? How much? I would want to order an extra pair since these are limited run. Without proper pads, this headphone will not perform to specs.
It’s been too long since I’ve made time to enjoy the plethora of cans I already own. So here I am again, considering buying yet another set of unknowns. It’s a friggin disease.
1st generation anything throws up red flags signaling a “wait for second batch before buying. “
For many reasons I want these to be winners. Staying well below the $500 mark with these makes the technology more desirable, if they deliver.
I’ll likely wake early one morning before the week’s end and order them before I can get my coffee.
What material is the headband? Leather or "leather"? I don't want to be stuck with a headband that's flaking black bits everywhere in a few years with no replacement parts.
Also do the earpads share any existing mount style or do we have to hope some company manufactures replacements for a supposed pool of only 1000 headphones?
EdTheNerdIt seems to be top leather and bottom velour when i watch the videos/pictures. If that's the case, it shouldn't decay because of the skin/sweat.
And in one of his interviews, i believe Grell said that there will be replacement pads from Dekoni.
The hd560S is already a bright headphone compared to other models in the 5XX/6XX line. These have an even greater peak between 3-4 kHz which is also in the ear gain frequency range. I don’t know how these couldn’t sound sharp/harsh. Hard pass until user reviews start coming in.
HifiearspeakersThe 560s bothered me a bit also. I am really interested in these, but I agree. I need to see some more feedback before I jump in. I hope they get a few more pairs circulating soon. I am surprised there is only one review floating around so far for such a hyped headphone. Either the marketing team needs to get on it or there is something off.
